Casting the world, Forging the campus, Shaping the universe, Welding the rest of all branches, Bcoz, We are the people, We are the machine, and we are Mechanical Engineers.

Mechanical engineering is one of the core branches of engineering known for its evergreen nature. Traditionally, mechanical engineers have to deal with concepts such as mechanics, thermodynamics, robotics, kinematics, structural analysis, fluid mechanics with their applications in Automotive Sector, Power Sector, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Sector, Aerospace. Nowadays, the scope of mechanical engineering is more interdisciplinary with the development of composite materials, biomedical applications, nanotechnology, and environmental conservation. Also, mechanical engineers play a major role in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and electric mobility. With this shift in paradigm, new job avenues have been opened for mechanical engineers. You can also expect to work on duties that involve testing thermal and mechanical sensors. As a mechanist, your duties may also involve designing and building mechanical devices. Research is often an important part of the role of mechanical engineers, too. As a student, you must have expected some fascinating salaries after your education.

The Human Body is a Mechanical System

Have you ever imagined that even God has applied mechanical engineering in nature? Running of the animals is an example of mechanics. Look at the humans. The motion of your body, arms, hands, legs, knees & feet everything is mechanical. Pumping of blood from the heart to veins is again mechanical engineering. Put on the shoes of a mechanical engineer and see the magic of mechanical engineering all around in nature.

Mechanical engineering is a thing by which you can get any job, even if it is an IT company you may find a Mech guy working there. Yeah, the fancy salary structure and wide opportunities fascinate students to take up Mechanical engineering. Mechanical engineering teaches not only engineering but also makes a person entirely a different person.

At present in India's economic environment the average earnings of Mechanical engineers depend largely on the following verticals based on skills.

Salary of Mechanical Engineer with different qualification

1) B-Tech- 25-30k for freshers and ~50k after 3+ years exp.

2) M-Tech- 50-60k for freshers and ~80k after 3+ exp.

COLLEGE: (for B-tech freshers)

1) 55-70k for Class-A college.

2) 35-50k for Class-B college.

3) 20-30k for Class-C college.

Payscale.com survey confirms that the basic mechanical engineer salary with MATLAB skills may vary from INR 5,00,000 5,80,000 per annum in India. The typical MathWorks Software Engineer salary is INR 10,33,333. Hence, a B-tech degree with a specific MATLAB skill would fetch a lot of job opportunities as well as higher studies opportunities.

I studied in a Tier-3 college and I believe that it was harder to get selected for an interview than to qualify it. In my final year, I started looking for opportunities and I used to search for the required qualifications section of many job descriptions. Most companies give the least preference to Tier 3 college or they give preference for a nontech job. So building a good crisp resume showcasing all skills relevant to the job was important to get a chance for an interview. Being a tier 3 college student, having a good internship and project was important as campus placements were not like others.

An extra Degree is worth it!

After all that you have done to complete BTech, going to school for an extra couple of years to get a master's degree will pay off and get you around a 20 percent higher salary than a mechanical engineer with a bachelor's degree. There will be around a 9 percent growth rate in mechanical engineering jobs by 2026. industries like hybrid cars and nanotechnology are expected to experience greater demand for mechanical engineering skills, and engineers with proficiency in the latest virtual simulation and 3-D printing technologies are expected to have the best job prospects. So skill up yourself and gain industry experience in order to position yourself better in the industry. Check out some amazing upskill courses here.

All the Best!
