3 Day - Automotive Dynamics & I.C engine overhauling


It is an intensive course in which we will you will learn about Static of Automobile Engineering, & Dynamic Balancing of subsystems of race vehicles. 

Course curriculum designed and guided by our reputed experts from Formula 1 and Automotive companies like Polaris, Ashok Leyland, Tata, Mahindra etc.


Day1: Statics of Automobile Engineering

Static: In this part, we will be discussing static parts of automobile that how each and every component works:

  • Fundamentals of chassis design, Chassis torsional rigidity, Bending stress, Stiffness and FOS (factor of safety)
  • Types of chassis, Braking, Steering, Suspension their disadvantages and advantages
  • Balancing of chassis, Rigidity to weight ratio optimization, Stress analysis
  • Racing car chassis V/s loading vehicle chassis, Tub chassis (recently used by koenigsegg Agera R), Carbon fiber monocoque, Tubular space frame chassis
  • Engine working with latest technologies, Intake design, Aspiration of engine and effect on performance, Brake horse power, Speed and power relation
  • Transmission, CVT, Manual, Gear Ratio and Gear selection criteria
  • Power economy graph, RPM-Power relation, Torque effect on transmission
  • Engine working and fundamentals with latest technologies
  • Engine Performance Parameters (EPP), Over drive ratio to improve fuel economy
  • Vehicle top speed calculations, Vehicle acceleration, Maximum Torque, Transmission final drive ratio
Day 2: Dynamic Calculations

Dynamics: In this part, we will be discussing dynamics of automobile in deep:

  1. Steering dynamics, Geometries, Efforts and Ratio, Understeer, Over steering
  2. Euler angles, Fixed coordinate system, Ackerman geometry, Steering geometry errors
  3. Derivation turning equation, Perfect steering condition, Ackerman percentage
  4. Designing parameters for suspension designing, Roll steer and Roll Gradient
  5. Suspension springs & dampers calculations
  6. Suspension and steering relations in designing, Steering mechanism effects on suspension, Formula- suspension case study, Suspension mechanics and travel at different terrains
  7. Suspension system, Spring travel, Suspension vibrations study
  8. Braking performance parameters, Stopping distance, Braking time, Braking torque
  9. Brake disc designing parameters, Heat dissipation calculations
Day 3: Hands on Session

Practical: This will be the implementation of the things that we will learn in above two parts:

  • Hand on experience (Disassembly and assembly of a MPFI multi cylinder IC engine) with complete explanation
  • Introduction to dynamics of engine
  • Electronic Injection System (MPFI, EFI, PFI)
  • Engine Emission Norms
  • Emission Control Methods
  • Engine Electronics (Various sensors, LCDT, RTD)
  • Quiz for "Certificate of Appreciation"
  • Introduction to national level automobile designing and fabrication events
